The açai berry is a super fruit that grows on acai palm trees native to the Amazon rainforest. Hailed as a “miracle fruit” (and even “purple gold” by some) for its high concentration of antioxidants and nutrients, it was once a secret known only by the tribes of the Amazon, who enjoyed its incredible healing and nutritional properties for centuries. The perishable nature of acai berries means that they are rarely seen fresh outside of the Amazon rainforest as they dry up and become inedible 72 hours after they are harvested.
